🔗 Introducing Myself: Website Drop!
let's brainstorm, collaborate, and conspire together: fablihayeaqub.com
Hi friends,
Thank you all so much for the wonderful support! I had no idea people would be so interested in reading my weekly round-ups and writings. It fills my heart to know that people are so eager and interested to learn along with me. The world is truly filled with such magical things from films, books, poetry, and more. It’s a beautiful place we live in, even amidst the pain and grief.
For those who don’t know me or recently subscribed, let me introduce myself!
I’m Fabliha (she/they) and I’m a Bangladeshi lesbian multi-disciplinary artist, writer, and community organizer born and raised in New York City— and damn proud! For the past decade, I’ve dedicated myself to building community, primarily fostering safe spaces for both local Bangladeshi immigrant neighborhoods and LGBTQ+ folks. My main focus is cultivating a safe environment for marginalized voices to creatively express themselves by cross-pollinating arts, education, and culture.
When I reflect on the past years, I feel so nourished and full of joy thinking of the incredible journey I’ve been on. I’ve had the absolute privilege of meeting, organizing, and conspiring with the most brilliant and passionate people. But above all, I’ve learned such important lessons and wisdom!
I won’t lie, putting together this website felt strange. I’ve been talking with my friends about navigating this shame/embarrassment, but ultimately realized how much I dismiss and downplay myself! I hope by sharing my work that I can show more appreciation for my skills, expertise, and curious brain. It also felt like an ode or an archive of all my experiences! A time machine!
If you’re interested in learning workshops and events I’ve organized and produced, check it out here. You can also check out my previous writings here as well!
Feel free to also contact me! Let’s collaborate, brainstorm, and conspire together!
Knowing that folks are reading my posts here blows me away. It means the world. I would deeply appreciate it if you could consider being a paid subscriber to support me further! Putting these weekly roundups takes time and labor full of care. Your support would mean the world!
Thank you so much friends <3
Warmly,
Fabliha
